All About Girls of Color

This workshop provides participants with an overview of current trends impacting girls of color. Research pertaining to poverty, school discipline, mental health, trauma, and more are reviewed in an interactive and engaging format. Evidence-based practices for supporting and engaging girls will be discussed. This workshop consists of lecture, small group discussions, and engaging activities.

This workshop provides an introduction to the key elements of group dynamics and facilitation. Practical tools for group implementation as well as do’s and don’ts will be explored.

Activities to Support Student Engagement- A Focus On Girls

Valuable tools, activities, and strategies to increase and maintain student engagement is essential for anyone working with youth. This workshop will specifically focus on increasing engagement of girls of color, whether it is in a classroom, expanded learning, or small group setting.

In order to have a positive rapport with girls, restorative and trauma-informed strategies must be employed. The focus on relationships, a sense of safety, and trust are essential components to both approaches. This session will provide participants with an overview of both frameworks and practical steps for daily integration into your work with youth.
